Nestled in a dense residential area, our design embraces the context, challenges and natural beauty of its surroundings. Built on a 44’ X 79’ site, the plan was articulated around the frangipani tree - which was not only a decision for aesthetics but also considering the scale of the tree. It naturally provided shade and privacy in a dense residential neighborhood. Historically speaking, houses in India were conceived around a courtyard - with rooms looking inwards into the courtyard; similarly, this design incorporates similar attributes while rendering it in a contemporary way.
The structure creates an interesting spatial experience owing to the permutation of multiple levels. Providing accessibility to green spaces and fenestrations through the majority of the spaces.
